Russian Orthodox Church

The Russian Orthodox Church breaks off relations with the Patriarchate of Constantinople. This is the response of the Moscow Patriarchate to the imminent granting of autocephaly to Ukraine.

Ukraine brought about $14 billion a year in revenue to the Moscow Patriarchate. After the granting of autocephaly to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, this money will remain in Ukraine.

A curious conflict: after the severance of relations with the Patriarchate of Constantinople, de jure the ROC becomes similar to a separate sect, since the ROC received the rights of Christonia from Constantinople.
