The Russian Orthodox Church believes that sex shops should be banned
Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Synodal Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, said in an interview with Rossiya24 TELEVISION:
I would think that such stores [intimate goods] should be banned altogether. The Church opposes sexual promiscuity and debauchery in all its forms. And such so-called “adult stores” are nothing more than legalized debauchery.
Also, Metropolitan Hilarion noted that the church can require parishioners not to attend sex shops, but cannot force the authorities to close such stores or limit their outdoor advertising.
It remains unclear what to do with the goods in case of closure of sex shops. Probably, the goods should be seized and transferred to the responsible storage in the ROC.
